It's not hard to guess where the Hawaiian palm comes from. It gets its name from its occurrence on some parts of the volcanic islands of Hawaii, which is why it is often called the volcano palm. One might mistakenly assume that this is a palm tree, but botanically speaking the Brighamia belongs to the bellflower family. This unusual houseplant is characterised by its bottle-shaped, succulent stem and the rosette-shaped, glossy foliage that it sheds in summer. All the more reason to enjoy the extremely attractive, delicate yellow flowers in late autumn. However, in order to enjoy these flowers, a few things need to be taken into account with regard to care.
